During the refurbishment a customer started to look into the history of the building.
A conversation sparked by the old piece of wall paper exposed after ripping out a display unit.
The building was first occupied in the 1870's by a Henry Mower, a photographer spookily, who had studios throughout the West country. He had a relationship with two sisters and had 9 children between them. It was a chemist from the 1900's, where it is thought that Agatha Christie may have worked at sometime. I can't verify this and I think it may have been slightly further in town.
Although, she lived near by and her father funded the finishing of the nearby church which ran out of funds. The chemist was here until 2004, when I took over as a photographer and based my gallery and studio.
